But should you?

As we navigate the tumultuous seas of life, we often find ourselves caught in the crossfire between what we can do and what we should do. Ah yes, the age-old tussle between possibility and responsibility. It’s as timeless as Batman’s commitment to fighting crime in Gotham or your grandmother’s unwavering love for her favourite soap opera. Let’s take a moment to delve into this intricate dance, shall we?

Picture this: You’ve just bought yourself the latest high-fashion superhero collection from Lanvin, a partnership with DC Comics that prominently spotlights Batman and Catwoman. You know you can wear that Batman onesie to your next office meeting, but should you? After all, the cape might just get in the way of the coffee machine, and your colleague’s reaction to your Catwoman mask might be more of a jump scare than a chuckle.

It’s a classic example of the ‘can vs should’ conundrum that we grapple with in our everyday lives. The ability to separate what we’re capable of doing from what we should be doing is a critical part of adulting, whether it’s deciding what to wear to work or when to splurge on that fancy gadget.

But why stop at clothes? Let’s take a gander at the world of footwear. With clogs making a comeback in recent years, we’ve seen the emergence of cereal-themed clogs in 2023, complete with designs inspired by our favourite breakfast cereals. Now, you can technically wear these eye-catching shoes on your next date, but should you? Unless your date happens to have a passionate love for Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, it might not be the best idea.

This delicate balance also extends to our pursuit of growth and wisdom. We live in a world that values progress and achievement, a society that often asks ‘Why not?’ instead of ‘Why?’ However, as we push the boundaries of what we can do, it’s vital to also ask ourselves whether we should.

Sure, we can eat cereal out of a shoe, but should we? There’s a big difference between ‘Can I mix my Coco Pops with milk in a shoe?’ and ‘Should I mix my Coco Pops with milk in a shoe?’ The former is a question of possibility, the latter a question of sanity. Unless you’re auditioning for a spot on a reality TV show or trying to impress your nieces and nephews with your ‘cool and hip’ breakfast routine, it’s probably best to stick to a traditional bowl.

Similarly, in the grand scheme of our lives, we often have the capacity for endless growth. We can always learn more, achieve more, and push our limits further. But should we? Is it worth sacrificing our peace of mind, our relationships, or our well-being for the sake of relentless progress? Sometimes, wisdom lies not in relentless pursuit but in knowing when to pause, when to say ‘enough’, and when to simply sit back and enjoy a bowl of cereal, preferably not from a shoe.

So the next time you find yourself standing in front of your wardrobe, contemplating whether to wear that superhero outfit to the office or don those cereal-themed clogs for your date, remember: just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. It’s a delicate balance, this dance between possibility and responsibility, between growth and wisdom. But it’s a dance well worth mastering, especially if you can do it while wearing cereal-themed clogs. Just remember to keep the cereal out of them, yeah?
